SCIENCE NIGHT AT CERRITOS ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

On May 14, 2010, WHS Robotics FLL team 239 taught a course on FLL and Jr. FLL at the Cerritos Elementary School Science Night.  They discussed FIRST Robotics and its FLL programs, history and opportunities.  They offered workshops in driving a robot, light sensors, FLL game strategies and FLL games for younger students.  It was an amazing evening and as a result, we expect to see new FLL and Jr. FLL teams coming from the greater Cerritos area.

FIRST LEGO LEAGUE TEAM 239 - THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY AMBASSADOR TEAM

Having been named an FLL Core Values Team and the official Los Angeles County Ambassador Team at the Los Angeles County Regional FLL competition, Team 239 has been reaching out to spread the word about FLL.  In April, they attended the FLL World Festival at the Atlanta Georgia Dome and Georgia World Congress Center.  Visiting with FLL team members from around the world, they shared thoughts and ideas about how to grow FLL and get more younger students involved in a Junior FLL program.  They learned how dedicated and devoted FLL team members are, from Europe to Asia to the USA (and throughout the world); FLL team members will grow up to become world leaders in heretofore undiscovered technologies!

CALIFORNIA STATE ASSEMBLY
RECOGNIZES WHS ROBOTICS

A representative of California State Assemblyman Tony Mendoza's office was attending an ABCUSD Board meeting, when she heard WHS Robotics President Emeritus, Ian Villa, speaking about the recent achievements of all three WHS Robotics teams.  She said that Ian's commentary was so amazing, that she had to see for herself what was happening and share it with the Assemblyman.  As a result, individual team members of the entire WHS Robotics Club were recognized for their hard work, dedication and accomplishments, by the California State Assembly!
